St Columb’s cathedral
















Inside the walls.

St Columb’s cathedral was first opened in 1633.

It is also in gothic revival style.

St Eugene’s cathedral



St Eugene’s Roman Catholic Church first opened in 4th May 1873.

Building cost £40,000.

Cathedral’s windows were at first plain glass due to lack of funds.

Late 1890s stained glass windows were installed.

Bell tower and spire began to be built in 1900 and was finished in 1903.

The cathedral is built in gothic revival style.

Gothic revivals also know as Victorian Gothic or Neo-Gothic is an architectural movement that began in the late 1740s.

The roman catholic church and church of ireland will be working on a joint project which will embrace religious cultures, heritage and architecture of the two cathedrals in derry. Documentary style.
